KIEV, July 1 –President Viktor Yushchenko has signed a decision of the National Security and Defense Council on the state of the implementation of a state program to develop the aviation industry through 2010.

On May 30, the council approved urgent measures for a strategy to develop the domestic aviation industry and civil aviation machinery for the period up to 2020, which would determine on a long-term basis, in particular, the policy for the production of competitive products, taking into account Ukraine's joining the World Trade Organization ; strategic directions for an upgrade and development of the industrial, design, scientific and research potential of the aviation sector; and measures on the acceleration of innovation development in the sector.
