KIEV, April 7 – Ukraine and Russia are at “cold war” over natural gas supplies that may turn into “conflicts of a bigger scale,” a senior official at President Viktor Yushchenko’s office said Monday.

Oleksandr Shlapak, Yushchenko’s first deputy chief of staff, said Ukraine had been failing to pay for gas imports, while Russia had not been making payments for transit of gas to Europe.
