KIEV, April 2 – Up to 85% of mortgage credits in Ukraine are issued in U.S. dollars, while the share of credits in the national currency is no more than 10-15% in the total mortgage portfolios of banks.
Despite the attractiveness of conditions for bank crediting in the light of the program of the State Mortgage Institution, up to 85% of mortgage credits are still issued in U.S. dollars. Products, which are proposed jointly with the State Mortgage Institution, are mainly in demand for the hryvnia mortgage crediting market. The share of credits in the national currency account for no more than 10-15% of the total mortgage portfolios of banks," Kiev-based Prostobank Consulting Company said on Tuesday, referring the results of a survey of the Ukrainian mortgage market.
