KIEV, Feb. 18 – President Viktor Yushchenko on Monday harshly criticized the Internal Affairs Ministry for slow progress in combating corruption and demanded the immediate resignation of three senior traffic police officials.

Yushchenko urged Yuriy Lutsenko, the minister, to launch and to spearhead reform of the police, which has been long perceived among the people as some of the most corrupt sectors of the government.
