KIEV, Jan. 31 - The Transport and Communications Ministry’s major increase of tariffs for railway cargo shipments from Feb. 1 could have unpredictable consequences for the country's economy, weaken the competitiveness of domestic producers on foreign markets, and provoke inflation, according to a statement issued by Ukraine’s Antimonopoly Committee.
According to the statement, the committee insisted on drawing up and introducing a transparent procedure for the formation of tariffs for railway transportation and has many times proposed that the Transport and Communications Ministry introduce relevant resolutions.
