KIEV, Jan. 17 – Ukraine’s energy market regulator has launched a comprehensive investigation of UkrGaz-Energo, the country’s largest gas supplier, apparently after discovering discrepancies in gas supply statistics reported by the company.

The move comes a day after the company suddenly admitted having accumulated a huge debt, up to $830 million, for Russian gas supplies, over the past month.
