KIEV, Jan. 14 - Russia's Atomstroiexport, the UTEM-engineering daughter company, Uzhteploenergomontazh and Ukrainian Design Institution Atomenergostroiproject (all based in Ukraine) have signed a contract to complete measures to increase safety at the Shelter facility of the Chornobyl nuclear plant, according to a posting on the official Chornobyl web site.
According to the posting, the contract was signed on Jan. 10 and foresees the repair of the light covering of the shelter, a transfer of 80% of the cover's load to outside constructions and the installation of physical protection systems on access routes.
