KIEV, Dec. 14 - Ukraine's farms have sown 7.8 million hectares of winter crops for the 2008 harvest, including 7.7 million hectares of grain crops.

"According to final data, winter crops of grain and vegetables were sown on an area of 7.8 million hectares for the harvest of 2008, and 7.7 million hectares were sown with grain, which is 1 million hectares up year-on-year," Deputy Agriculture Minister Yuriy Luzan said in a phone-in interview with the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday.
