KIEV, Nov. 19 - Ukraine should increase energy prices for domestic consumers, as bringing them to the market level is the most powerful stimulus for launching energy-saving technologies and the safer use of oil, gas and electricity, according to Polish Ambassador to Ukraine Jacek Kluczkowski.
"Let's compare Poland and Ukraine. You consume five times more gas than we do, and more coal and oil. Ukraine has nuclear energy, which we don't have. However, Poland has a GPD three times bigger [than Ukraine's]... without real market prices it's unlikely [Ukraine will be able] to launch an efficient program for saving gas, oil, coal and electricity," he said in an interview with the Den newspaper published last week.
