KIEV, Nov. 16 - Ukraine could receive between $1.2 billion to $1.5 billion from bank sales in 2008, the vice president and senior analyst at Moody's international rating agency, Yaroslav Sovgira, said in an interview with the newspaper Economic News.
"By the middle of next year, it is possible that Ukrgazbank and Kreditprombank [both based in Kiev] could be sold. However, the former has talked about a public offering while the latter is not expediting the sale process. We expect to see no further major sales, mergers or acquisitions. Ukraine could make between $1.2 billion to $1.5 billion on the sales of these banks," Sovgira said.
