KIEV, Nov. 6 - Marathon Oil Company, a U.S. oil producer, is seeking to search for crude in Ukraine’s offshore area in the Black Sea after signing Tuesday a preliminary agreement with a Ukrainian firm.

“We signed a letter of confidentiality and will now begin talks over joint operation in exploring the Black Sea shelf,” Anatoliy Prysiazhniuk, the head of ChornomorNaftoGaz, said.
