KIEV, Oct. 5 - Ukraine reduced imports of natural gas by 22.8% over the past three days after a local gas distributor had started to restrict supplies to heat producers that fail to make timely payments.

The dramatic reduction of gas imports comes days after Russian gas giant Gazprom has threatened to cut off supplies to Ukraine unless the country pays an alleged $1.3 billion gas debt.
