KIEV, Sept. 14 – The creation of a high-velocity railway communications system in Ukraine as a part of the preparations to host the European Football Championship 2012 would need $6 billion and state support, according to Director General of the State Railways Administration (Ukrzaliznytsia), Volodymyr Kozak.
"If the state decides that Ukraine needs high-velocity railway communications (160-200 kilometers per hour), we would find a possibility to take long-term credits for 20 years and more to fulfill this project. However, the state should settle this issue. Of course, today Ukrzaliznytsia won't be able to fulfill the project on high-velocity communications," Kozak said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.
