KIEV, Aug. 20 – The Ukrainian Grain Association said that the grain export quotas should be set for the whole marketing year (July 2007 to June 2008), taking into account domestic grain stocks, with half of the export volume given to exporters by Jan. 1, 2008, and the second half given by June 2008.
"Unfortunately, this marketing year Ukraine cannot manage without grain export quotas due to the not very good harvest. We propose to set the quota, taking into account the possible size of grain exports, half of which is to be given before [Jan. 1, 2007], and the second half [of the quota] after the start of the year," Ukrainian Grain Association President Volodymyr Klimenko has told Interfax-Ukraine.
