KIEV, July 27 – Ukraine’s current account deficit in January through June grew140% over the same period last year, to $1.9 billion (3.2% of GDP), the National Bank of Ukraine reported, referring to preliminary data.
"The deficit of the currency account in January through June was $1.9 billion, which is 2.4 times more than in the same period of 2006. In June, as last year, a small surplus of $59 million in the balance of foreign trade and $28 million in the currency account of the balance of payment was seen," reads a posting on the official Web site of the central bank.
