KIEV, July 20 - Ukraine’s EnergoAtom, the state nuclear power generator, and its Russian counterpart, Rosenergoatom, seek to cooperate in research of safe decommissioning of nuclear power reactors, the government reported Friday.
Most of nuclear power reactors in Ukraine and Russia were built in the 1970s and 1980s under the same technology. The lifespan of many of those reactors is now nearing the designed limit, which is raising fears for their safe decommissioning, analysts said.
