KIEV, July 2 - The government seeks to lift duties on imports of grain for the next 12 months to prevent grain shortages following major drought that had swept through Ukraine earlier this year.
The government, in a bill recently submitted to Parliament, seeks to remove the duties for the time until the next grain harvesting starts on June 30, 2008. The duties are currently set at 40 euros per one metric ton of wheat and rye.
