KIEV, May 4 ??“ Oleksandr Medvedko, a former prosecutor general and a loyalist to pro-Russian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, on Friday was appointed as a deputy prosecutor general, according to a report by the Prosecutor General Office.

President Viktor Yushchenko replaced Medvedko with Sviatoslav Piskun as the prosecutor general by a decree last week seeking to stop sabotage of his plan for early general election.
