KIEV, March 29 ??“ Thousands of coal miners from eastern regions of Ukraine are on the way to Kiev apparently to show support for the pro-Russian government of Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, a lawmaker said Thursday.

The miners were sent by the Regions Party in response to a plan by three major opposition groups to hold a massive anti-government rally in downtown Kiev on Saturday and Sunday.
