KIEV, Feb. 19 ??“ Ukraine??™s high economic growth figure of 9.3% on the year in January is probably explained by a low base in January 2006, according to a report by Alfa Bank.

The leaders in GDP growth this year are the construction sector, processing industry and trade. In January 2006, the value added in the construction sector fell by 8.1%, in the processing industry by 4.6%, and in trade it grew only by 0.7%.
