KIEV, Feb. 8 ??“ The use of U.S. dollar in the Ukrainian economy rose to 26.97% in 2006 from 23.6% a year earlier, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) reported in a monetary review for the past year.
"Rapid growth in deposits in foreign currency promoted an increase in the dollarization of the economy to 26.97% compared to 23.6% as of early 2006. In September through December, the dollarization was falling, which was linked to a gradual settling of the situation on the currency market," reads the review drawn up by the department for monetary policy in the NBU.
