KYIV, March 14 – Greenhouse gas emissions increased significantly in 2024 compared to other years after the start of the full-scale invasion, said Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Svitlana Hrynchuk.
"In 2024, emissions increased significantly due to intensified attacks on energy and industrial infrastructure. In total, over three years of full-scale invasion, greenhouse gas emissions amounted to about 230 million tonnes of carbon dioxide - so much was produced per year, which was 1.1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide, and in 2024 alone, they increased to 2.1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide," she said.
