KIEV, Feb. 5 ??“ President Viktor Yushchenko on Monday nominated Volodymyr Ohryzko, a pro-Western diplomat, as foreign minister in a clear sign that the president is determined to continue Ukraine??™s integration into NATO.

The nomination comes as a surprise for the pro-Russian government coalition, which has been seeking appointment of a figure that is more loyal to Russia. The coalition may now reject the nomination.
