KYIV, Feb 25 – ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (AMKR), a major mining and metallurgical enterprise in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, had to rebuild its limestone mining facility, ArcelorMittal Beryslav, in Kherson region from scratch after the area was liberated from Russian occupation in 2022.
According to AMKR's corporate newspaper Metallurg, the town of Arkhanhelske fell under occupation at the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion, remaining under Russian control for nearly seven months. The settlement, part of the Vysokopillia community, was liberated by Ukrainian Armed Forces on October 3, 2022. During the occupation, the mining facility suffered extensive damage due to constant shelling, landmines, and combat operations.
