KYIV, Feb 18 - The New Safe Confinement over the Shelter facility over the destroyed reactor of power unit 4 of Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant cannot perform its main isolation function due to the Russian drone strike and the consequences it caused.

This was reported by the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine with reference to its chairman Oleh Korikov on Monday.

"In fact, the function that was originally set in the project for the construction of the New Safe Confinement has now been lost - this is the isolation of the Shelter facility in order to protect the environment and personnel from possible radiation exposure," he said at a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center.
