KYIV, Jan 16 – Ukrainian Minister of Energy Herman Haluschenko considers the Khmelnytsky Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) site safe for storing reactor cores intended for the completion of reactor 3 and reactor 4. He insists on expediently purchasing them from Bulgaria due to the expiration of the parliament's permission for such a sale on March 11.
"The Khmelnytsky NPP site is safe for storing these reactors. The deadline for the sale expires on March 11. We understand clearly that there will be no extension of the deadline precisely because, unfortunately, pro-Russian forces have gained influence. Therefore, we need to physically retrieve these reactor vessels as soon as possible," he said during an online session of the Energy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday.
