KYIV, Jan 6 – The Slovak state-owned operator SEPS will ensure electricity supplies to Ukraine as part of emergency assistance in accordance with the current contract concluded with the company Ukrenergo, the Czech newspaper iRozhlas writes in response to threats by Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico to stop electricity supplies to Ukraine.
"Analyst Jozef Badida told the Slovak newspaper Pravda that artificially restricting electricity supplies from Slovakia abroad would most likely violate European and Slovak legislation. Former Slovak Economy Minister Karel Hirman previously stated that electricity is sold to Ukraine by traders, not the state. He claimed that if electricity supplies to Ukraine are stopped, Slovakia will find itself drawn into a conflict within the EU," the publication writes.
