KYIV, Dec 16 – One of the features of the latest massive Russian attack on Ukraine's energy system on December 13 was its targeting of interstate energy infrastructure facilities with the aim of minimizing export-import opportunities or disconnecting the energy systems of Ukraine and Europe, an adviser to the Ukrainian Prime Minister and a member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo, Yuriy Boiko, has said.
"One of the features of the last attack is that it was aimed at the network infrastructure involved directly in export-import operations between Ukraine and European neighbors. This was done in order to reduce the possibility of using imports as much as possible, and ideally to achieve the disconnection of the Ukrainian system from the European system," he told a press briefing at Ukraine's media center in Kyiv on Monday.
