KYIV, Dec 12 - Illegal trade in tobacco products in Ukraine as of October 2024 decreased to 12.6%, while in July it was recorded at 14.6%, and at the beginning of the year - 19.1%, according to a study by Kantar Ukraine on monitoring the illegal trade in tobacco products in Ukraine.
According to the study, the average annual volume of the illegal tobacco market in Ukraine decreased from 21.8% in 2023 to 16.1% in 2024. Analysts estimated annual losses of the state budget from the functioning of the shadow tobacco market at UAH 21.9 billion, and the volume of the shadow cigarette market in Ukraine at 6.3 billion units.
