KYIV, Dec 11 – Ukrainian enterprises reduced steel consumption by 7.95% year-on-year in January–November 2024, down to 2.996 million tons. According to a press release by Ukrmetalurgprom on Wednesday, imports during this period amounted to 1.136 million tons, representing 37.91% of the domestic steel market.
Ukrmetalurgprom reported that Ukrainian steel producers manufactured 5.741 million tons of rolled steel during this period, a 118% increase compared to the same timeframe in 2023. Of this, approximately 3.881 million tons, or 67.6%, were exported, according to Ukraine's Customs Service. This is a notable rise from the 54.4% share (2.664 million tons) exported in January-November 2023, when overall production was 4.864 million tons.
