KYIV, Nov 11 - In its October inflation report, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has again worsened its forecast for the outflow from Ukraine this year - this time from about 400,000 to 500,000 people, in absolute figures we are talking about an increase in the number of migrants remaining abroad this year to 6.9 million.
"In the summer of 2024, the risk of a greater outflow of migrants abroad than expected was realized as a result of a very difficult energy situation. Therefore, the assumption of a net outflow of external migrants in 2024 has been worsened compared to previous estimates [to about 500,000 people]," the published document says.
