WASHINGTON, Oct 24 – Doubling efforts to mobilize revenues for the state budget from domestic sources and completing the restructuring of Ukraine's commercial debt within the timeframes specified by the commitments are key conditions for successfully reducing the level of Ukraine's public debt, said Era Dabla-Norris, Deputy Director of the IMF's Fiscal Affairs Department, at a press briefing in Washington on Wednesday.
"The authorities [of Ukraine] need to continue to restore debt sustainability. And in this regard, there is two important aspects. The first is to complete the restructuring of external commercial debt in line with program commitments. And the second is to really redouble efforts on domestic revenue mobilization and to accelerate the implementation of their national revenue strategy," she said.
