KYIV, Oct 4 - Despite negative expectations, Ukraine in the 2023-2024 marketing year (MY) retained its leadership in the world sunflower oil market: its share accounted for 42% of world production, while the share of the Russian Federation was 29%, the information and analytical agency UkrAgroConsult reported.

Analysts referred to the forecast of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, according to which in 2023-2024 MY the forecast for gross sunflower production for Ukraine due to higher yields was increased by 27% compared to 2022-2023 MY - to 15.5 million tons, for Russia - by 5%, to 17.1 million tons.
