KYIV, Sept 17 – From 16 million to 30 million citizens live in the territories controlled by Ukraine, Director of Mykhailo Ptukha Institute for Demography and Social Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Ella Libanova said.

"The High Commissioner for Refugees gives 6 million Ukrainians who left, but I have doubts about that because there are 1.2 million citizens in Russia. But who knows how many of them are in Russia," she said at the presentation of the project to strengthen the demographic stability of Ukraine on Tuesday.
