KYIV, Aug 27 – The UN World Food Programme (WFP) sent 23,000 tonnes of corn from Ukraine to Mozambique and Malawi as part of the Grain from Ukraine program, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reported.
"A ship has been sent from Ukraine that will deliver 3,848 tonnes of maize to Mozambique and 19,200 tonnes to Malawi. The cargo will first be sent to Mozambique by sea, and then transported to Malawi by land. Upon arrival, the maize, along with other products, will be used by the World Food Programme for distribution to socially vulnerable categories of the local population. Ukrainian maize will allow the WFP to support about 200,000 people in Mozambique and 900,000 people in Malawi with food for three months," the statement says.
