KYIV, Aug 2 – The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) worsened the forecast for electricity deficit in 2024-2026 in the inflation report for July.
In particular, the deficit estimate for 2024 has been worsened from 5% to more than 7%, for 2025 – from 4% to almost 8%. At the same time, for 2026 it is forecast to be close to 5%, whereas previously no deficit was expected.
The worsening of the estimate is due to the loss of part of the energy infrastructure due to targeted Russian shelling, primarily maneuverable generation – thermal and hydroelectric power plants.
