KYIV, July 19 – The government's intention to impose a 15% military tax on buyers of new and used cars (including electric vehicles) during their first registration in Ukraine could lead to a collapse in car sales and result in the loss of entire networks of official car dealers, believes Oleh Omelnytsky, director of the AUTO-Consulting information and analytical group.
"It's a short-sighted and chaotic decision. Moreover, the innovations will be applied to electric cars, which have so far not been subject to any tax (except for a small excise duty). We can forget about the recovery of the car market. We can discuss the further existence of dealers of certain brands, because along with the 15%, the price will grow due to the increased exchange rate," he wrote on Facebook on Friday.
