Cell phone firms ordered to operate network for 10 hours after power shutoff

KYIV, July 17 - The National Telecommunication Networks Operation Center has issued an order, according to which mobile operators must ensure the availability of mobile communication services during 10 hours of lack of power supply, the press service of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine reported on Tuesday.

In accordance with order No. 539/2344 on amendments to order 154/1959 on ensuring the stability of electronic communication networks under martial law, the operators must ensure the operability of electronic communication networks in conditions of planned, emergency and unplanned (forced) outages of power supply to the infrastructure at the expense of own or rented technical means (electric generating sets, batteries).
