KYIV, July 8 – The resumption of operation of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant (NPP) after de-occupation will depend on the timing of restoration, and in fact, the new construction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant and filling the Kakhovka reservoir with water, which could take seven-eight years, says Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Boiko.
"The speed of the ZNPP's return to the energy system is a very important issue. But this also depends on the timing of the restoration of the Kakhovka HPP. It is hardly possible to operate even one unit under current conditions, and for the active operation of six nuclear power units it is necessary to return the level of the Kakhovka reservoir to those indicators which will make it possible to take water from there to cool the reactors," Boiko said at the fourth conference on energy law in Kyiv on Friday.
