KYIV, June 24 – Ukraine’s consolidated balance of payments, after a surplus of $6.4 billion in March, in April of this year was reduced to a deficit of $1.3 billion (about 0.7% of GDP), while in April 2023 – with a surplus of $1.4 billion, according to data from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
According to them, the current account deficit in April 2024 amounted to $1.5 billion compared to a surplus of $190 million a year earlier.
“The formation of the deficit was due to the expansion of the negative balance of trade in goods and the lack of grant assistance from international partners,” the regulator explained.
