BRUSSELS, June 21 – The Vice-President of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis, has confirmed that the first payment of EUR 1.5 billion from windfall revenue from frozen Russian assets will be provided to Ukraine "before summer break."
On Friday, during a press conference in Luxembourg following the meeting of the EU Council on Economic and Financial Affairs (ECOFIN), Dombrovskis said: "In May member states agreed to use revenues from proceeds of Russian frozen assets to benefit Ukraine. We estimate that our measures would make up to EUR 3 billion available this year and we expect to make first payment of EUR 1.5 billion before summer break."
