KYIV, May 10 - Ukrenergo is concerned about the insufficient volumes of imports during times of shortage and, together with the Ministry of Energy and the energy regulator NEURC, is working on mechanisms to improve the situation, said the head of the company, Volodymyr Kudrytsky.
“Now we are concerned that, unfortunately, the import section (1,700 MW) is not fully used in times of shortage. We have to attract emergency assistance instead of normal commercial imports. It is more expensive and not a guaranteed source. Therefore, now, together with the ministry and the regulator, we will talk about how we can make sure that imports enter the energy system freely and in large volumes,” he told reporters while signing a grant agreement with the German bank KfW on Thursday.
