KYIV, Oct 17 – Representatives of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG Move) and Directorate-General for Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD) expressed their support for an initiative to open joint checkpoints on the western border, Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Serhiy Derkach said in an exclusive interview with the Interfax-Ukraine News Agency.

"On October 12, I held talks with DG Move and DG TAXUD on the issue of joint control [at the checkpoints]. We heard that the European Union fully supports the idea of creating joint checkpoints where joint control will be introduced," he said.
