Ukraine for the first time loaded Westinghouse nuclear fuel into the VVER-440 reactor of one of its nuclear power plant units. The fuel loading took place with the participation of Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko, Energoatom President Petro Kotin, Westinghouse President Patrick Fragman and Swedish Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Åberg.

Thus, today Energoatom has become the first energy generating company in the world operating Soviet-design reactors to implement a project to diversify nuclear fuel for reactors of the VVER-1000 and VVER-440 types.
