KYIV, Aug 24 – The Government of Norway is allocating NOK 1.5 billion to ensure the import of gas and electricity to Ukraine.
"The Ukrainian authorities need our help to provide electricity and heat for houses and dwellings, businesses and government institutions on the eve of a new winter," the press service reports, citing a statement by Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
The message indicates that the funds will come through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Part of the financial assistance (NOK 865 million) is intended for the repair and maintenance of critical electrical infrastructure and emergency power supply in areas affected by the war, and part (NOK 635 million) is intended for the purchase of gas for emergency storage.
