Ukraine seeks to restore navigation in Black Sea despite Russia’s threats
Journal Staff Report

KYIV, August 18 – The arrangement of a humanitarian corridor to restore navigation in the Black Sea is an extraordinary breakthrough that will help ships safely leave Ukrainian ports, spokesperson for the southern command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Natalia Humeniuk said during the United News nationwide telethon.

"The arrangement of the humanitarian corridor to restore navigation in the Black Sea is an emergency breakthrough, an emergency operation... The first one has gone. As they say, the experiment has begun. Let's hope that other ships will also be able to safely leave Ukraine's ports," she said, commenting on the arrival of dry-cargo ship Joseph Schulte, which became the first ship to use the temporary corridor in the Black Sea, and which left the Ukrainian port of Odesa on August 16.
