KYIV, Aug 9 – The transit of Ukrainian grain through Lithuanian and other ports of the Baltic countries can become long-term and reduce geopolitical risks for Ukraine, at the same time, this requires additional investment in infrastructure, Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte said in an interview with LRT.
The Lithuanian edition recalled that at the end of July, three Lithuanian ministers called on the European Commission to create opportunities for increasing the transit of grain through the Baltic countries. Such supplies are hampered by the fact that Ukrainian agricultural products are stuck on the border with Poland due to Warsaw's fears that its market access will lead to lower prices for goods supplied by local farmers.
