KYIV, July 7 – Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov said that Ukraine needs a new strategy for developing the defense industry, which should take into account global trends and economic factors.
"The Ukrainian defense industry is currently unable to meet the needs of the defense forces in weapons and military equipment, but it has a huge potential. Both of these are true. The highly profitable Ukrainian defense industry should become one of the drivers for achieving the $1 trillion GDP goal. I have repeatedly stated my position – self-sufficiency in providing weapons and military equipment is an integral part of real sovereignty. We must produce everything we can ourselves. We have an advantage – the experience of combat use of weapons. Strong manufacturers are ready to develop partnerships with us. We must take this opportunity," Reznikov wrote in his column for Interfax-Ukraine.
