KYIV, June 28 – Unfavorable weather conditions in the south of Ukraine may affect the yield of barley, affect the gross crop harvest, and amid high world prices for the crop, the barley market is expecting a period of "price swings," said experts from the analytical center of the Pusk cooperative, created within the framework of Ukrainian Agrarian Council (UAC).
"Due to weather conditions, low-grade grain is recorded in the south, as well as the problem of barley lodging, which will negatively affect crop yields. This situation will contribute to an increase in barley prices, and the world market is also entering a growth trend. However, with the expansion of harvesting, we can expect a temporary decrease in demand and prices for barley," the analysts said.
