KYIV, June 14 – The state-owned enterprise Energoatom and the U.S. Westinghouse have signed a contract to design, manufacture and deliver Long-Term Containment Cooling Systems for the modernization of two VVER-440 power units of one of the Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
At the request of Energoatom, Westinghouse has developed the first Long-Term Containment Cooling System. It has become a real technological breakthrough and will significantly improve the safety of Soviet-made VVER-440 reactor plants, the company said on Wednesday.
